JOB DESCRIPTION
Prescreening questions - please submit at the top of the candidate's resume
Can you provide specific examples of the candidate s hands-on design work (types of systems, components, or projects he personally designed)?
What tools and software have they actively used (CREO and Solidworks -please give an example), and at what level of proficiency?
How have they contributed within their roles, were they leading design efforts, supporting, or reviewing others work?
Can you share a recent project that highlights their design ownership and technical impact from concept through execution?
The ideal candidate will possess advanced experience with Creo and a strong background designing automated machinery, assembly equipment, or custom automation systems. Working closely with Project Engineers and cross-functional teams, the Mechanical Design Engineer will develop innovative, manufacturable, and reliable solutions that meet customer requirements, performance standards, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop custom automated assembly equipment, production machinery, and industrial automation systems using Creo Parametric.
Create mechanical concepts, layouts, detailed assemblies, and component designs from initial requirements through final release.
Utilize engineering principles and sound technical judgment to solve complex mechanical design challenges.
Develop detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs, specifications, and design documentation.
Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, component sizing, and mechanical evaluations to support design decisions.
Support prototype development, equipment testing, validation, troubleshooting, and customer demonstrations.
Participate in formal design reviews with Project Engineers and stakeholders, incorporating feedback and making necessary design improvements.
Collaborate with manufacturing, controls engineering, systems integration, suppliers, and project teams to ensure successful project execution.
Ensure designs meet requirements for functionality, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
Maintain thorough documentation throughout the design lifecycle, including revisions and engineering change processes.
Deliver high-quality designs while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years of mechanical design experience within automated assembly systems, custom machinery, industrial automation, robotics, or special-purpose equipment.
Proficiency in Creo (preferred). Proficiency in SWx will also be considered.
Experience with Windchill PDM/PLM for design data management.
Strong understanding of:
Mechanical machine design
Automated assembly equipment
Pneumatic and mechanical systems
Motion control components
Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
Component selection and system integration
GD&T and engineering drawing standards
Proven ability to independently execute complete machine designs with minimal supervision.
Ability to effectively collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
