MAU is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on an assignment with our client in Tampa, Florida. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for compact electromechanical power and cable management products while supporting the integration of rotating mechanisms and production readiness. This is a long-term contract opportunity.

Shift Information
Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Hybrid schedule onsite once per week in the Tampa area
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering 5 years of mechanical product design experience Experience designing mechanisms with motion rotating assemblies, spring systems, latches, locking features, etc. Experience supporting products from concept through production Hands-on involvement in manufacturing support and production troubleshooting Proficiency in SolidWorks
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience designing compact electromechanical or power-related products Exposure to ULCSA or other safety-compliance-driven product environments Experience working with suppliers on production-ready components Familiarity with DFMDFA best practices

Ability to support DFMDFA efforts including tolerance stack-ups and supplier collaboration Ability to support documentation for products requiring safety-compliance standards, e.g. ULCSA
Essential Functions
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for compact electromechanical products Support development of rotating and spring-driven mechanisms, reels, spools, hubs, locking systems, etc. Perform shaft bearing and housing selection for rotating assemblies Design for durability, safety, and manufacturability in real-world environments Support DFMDFA efforts including tolerance stack-ups and supplier collaboration Create and revise 3D models and detailed drawings in SolidWorks Participate in product validation testing and design iterations Support documentation for products requiring safety-compliance standards, e.g. ULCSA
