Mechanical Design Engineer - Marine Products

Location: Edgewater, FL (or similar coastal manufacturing location)

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing marine engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of high-performance recreational boats. You will work cross-functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to deliver innovative, reliable, and manufacturable products.

This position requires strong expertise in 3D CAD design, particularly Siemens NX, and a passion for hands-on product development in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and structural components for marine vessels using Siemens NX
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings to support production
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, tooling, and vendors to optimize designs for manufacturability and cost
  • Conduct engineering analysis, including tolerance stack-ups, structural considerations, and material selection
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation efforts
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, durability, and quality
  • Manage engineering changes, documentation, and revision control
  • Ensure compliance with applicable marine standards and safety regulations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 2-5+ years of experience in mechanical design (marine, automotive, aerospace, or similar industries preferred)
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX (NX CAD) for solid modeling and drafting
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes (composites experience is a plus)
  • Experience working with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
  • Ability to interpret and create detailed engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in boat design, marine systems, or recreational vehicles
  • Familiarity with composites, fiberglass construction, or marine structural design
  • Knowledge of FEA or simulation tools
  • Hands-on experience with prototype builds or testing
  • Understanding of electrical/mechanical integration in marine environments

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edgewater, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr.
