Mechanical Engineer Davenport, IA (100% Onsite) Job Type: Full-Time The Mechanical Engineer will support the Sheet Finishing Department by providing engineering solutions that enhance plant safety, efficiency, reliability, and production output. This role focuses on mechanical system integration, capital project execution, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. The position requires collaboration with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to optimize plant performance and implement effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
Manage capital and sustaining projects from concept to completion
Develop project scope, specifications, safety reviews, and timelines
Coordinate design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and project closeout
Engineering & Technical Support
Provide mechanical engineering support for production and maintenance
Optimize plant infrastructure, equipment, and processes
Troubleshoot and improve mechanical systems
Vendor & Contractor Management
Coordinate with external vendors and contractors
Oversee design, fabrication, installation, and support services
Process Improvement
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives
Analyze process and equipment data to identify improvement opportunities
Implement solutions to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with production, maintenance, and technical teams
Support training, safety, and reliability initiatives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
Authorization to work in the U.S. (No visa sponsorship available)
Must meet ITAR/export control compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications
1–3 years of engineering experience in manufacturing
Experience with aluminum rolling mills or similar heavy industry
Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or utility systems
Experience managing or supporting capital projects
