Our client, a consulting engineering firm in Schaumburg, is seeking a mechanically minded engineer to support and manage regional infrastructure projects involving fluids, valves, and piping systems. This role is a hybrid position, blending technical engineering and analysis performed in the office with necessary field work, client interaction, and project coordination across the Chicagoland region.
This position supports a variety of municipal, industrial, and commercial projects involving fluid systems, valve operations, mechanical equipment assessments, and system performance evaluations. The work involves a balance of technical analysis, report generation, and field-based activities, making it ideal for someone comfortable with both office-based engineering and hands-on site work for troubleshooting and validation.
Responsibilities
Conduct field inspections, testing, and performance evaluations of fluid systems, valves, pumps, and mechanical equipment
Support design reviews and engineering assessments for regional infrastructure and facility projects
Prepare technical reports, summaries of field findings, and clear recommendations for clients
Assist with troubleshooting system issues and validating equipment installations
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; Civil, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering degrees also considered
0–5+ years of experience in mechanical systems, fluids, valves, piping, or related technical work
Demonstrated passion for field work, equipment evaluation, and hands-on problem-solving
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
Comfortable interacting with clients, contractors, and field personnel
Preferred Experience
Exposure to pumps, valves, piping systems, or industrial mechanical equipment
Field engineering, commissioning, or inspection experience
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
