## The impact you'll make
As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.
In this role, you will directly contribute to the desing and development of our deposition tool.
## What you'll do
- Participates in and often leads the conceptualization, modeling, analysis, development, documentation, and test/validation of hardware associated with new semiconductor equipment.
- Designs parts using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings/plating's. Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives.
- Ensures documentation is consistent with SEMI, Lam Standards and other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.), as well as best known methods for GD&T; accordingly, demonstrates knowledge and ability to properly utilize them.
- Performs analytical work in order to characterize and properly specify new and existing designs, including heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid/gas dynamics and manufacturability.
- Develops and execute test plans that generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design.
- Develops and present reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at design reviews.
- Collaborates with other departments for procurement and assembly of mechanical components/ equipment.
- Professionally represents the company to the customer.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience, may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
## Who we're looking for
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or a Master's degree with 3 years' experience; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent experience
- Experience or deep understanding of Optics and optic systems
- Extremely knowledgeable using 3D CAD tools required
- Ability to work in a team environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities
- Strong skills and experiences in problem solving, time and priority management, communication, and project management
- Ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance
- Good communication skills, ability to work well with other teams to meet production goals
- Strong design background coupled with solid engineering skills
## Preferred qualifications
- Experience in the Semiconductor industry.
- Design experience and productization of Optics and optic systems.
- Design experience developing mechanical, electrical, or test systems.
- Hands on experience building or maintaining mechanical, electrical, or test systems.
- CAD (Creo)
- Understanding of FEA, CFD, and Thermal Analysis.
- Structured Problem Solving and DOE.
