Air Systems Engineering is seeking a resourceful individual with broad knowledge and understanding of HVAC and related systems to join our team as a Mechanical Design Engineer .This is not a remote position. Candidates must live within a reasonable commute distance to our office in Tacoma, WA (or plan to relocate prior to hire date).SALARY RANGE$150,000 to $165,000 per yearJOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES (other duties may be assigned)Work with Sales and Project Managers to provide timely field-related design solutions for our customersAnalyze customer specifications and performance requirements to determine mechanical designsAssist with budgets, pre-contract designs and presentationsActive participant in all aspects of system design process: research, design, load calculations for system sizing, layout, sizing of components, equipment selectionManage projects with both internal and external deadlines and changing time constraintsDesign all details for construction required elements for installationAssure all code requirements are met providing necessary information for permit applicationProduce O&M's, Commissioning and other documents required for project communication and completionPerform site surveys as required to verify details necessary for complete and accurate designMonitor design standards and implement/practice quality controlEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBS in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldThree years related experience in HVAC or construction industryRelated experience in plumbing design preferred, but not requiredEquivalent combination of education and experience is acceptableWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office products, CAD, Revit a plusOTHER QUALIFICATIONSFamiliarity with HVAC principles and technical applicationsAbility to comprehend and implement applicable HVAC related federal, state and local laws, codes and regulationsRead, analyze, and interpret information including blueprints, drawings, and equipment specificationsStrong verbal and written communication skillsEffectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external clientsHighly motivated team player with the ability to positively work with othersSelf-motivated with strong interpersonal skills, achievement oriented, excellent problem solving, time management, organizational, and relationship building skillsCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid Driver's LicenseProfessional Engineer (PE) License preferred, but not requiredPHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENTFrequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, and use hands to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and telephoneOccasionally lift and/or move up to 25 poundsTypical office environment with occasional visits to other offices and commercial/industrial business environmentsNoise levels in our office are low to moderate, other sites may have moderate to high noise levelsDaily job stress runs from minimal to high, based on varying factors of site considerations, time constraints, travel requirements, and customer needsReasonable accommodation may be made to enable those with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this positionWe have been providing commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities with comprehensive HVAC services for over 50 years.
