This includes working closely with production teams, hydroform sales units, and purchasing departments to tailor hydroform designs for the North American market. The engineer will be tasked with modifying existing designs and creating new ones that meet the specific needs of this diverse market.ResponsibilitiesThe Mechanical Design Engineer position encompasses a range of responsibilities that are pivotal to the design, development, and production of hydroform products in North America. Below are the key responsibilities associated with this role:Using CAD to Create Parts and Tooling: The engineer will employ CAD software to design parts and tooling required for hydroform products. This involves creating detailed and precise designs that adhere to industry standards and specifications.Collaboration with Purchasing and Engineering: The role requires working closely with the purchasing department and engineering teams to review and adapt existing designs for economic manufacture. This collaboration ensures that hydroform products are cost-effective and suitable for production in North America.Developing and Maintaining Standards: The engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining standards and specifications for hydroform products sourced in North America. This task ensures consistency and quality across all products.Supporting Hydroform Sales: The engineer will support the hydroform sales team by providing layouts, cost estimations, and concept designs for hydroform products. This support is crucial for facilitating sales and meeting customer requirements.Participating in Design Reviews: The position involves participating in customer and supplier design reviews. The engineer will contribute technical expertise and ensure that designs meet all necessary specifications and customer expectations.Resolving Design-Related Issues: The engineer will interface with internal and external customers and suppliers as needed to resolve design-related issues and technical concerns. Effective communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this responsibility.Creating Manufacturing Drawings and Documentation: The engineer will create manufacturing drawings, bills of materials (BOM), and documentation for locally sourced hydroform products. Accurate documentation is critical for ensuring smooth production processes.Running Autoform Simulations: The engineer will run Autoform simulations on new and current products to assess feasibility. These simulations help in understanding the mechanical behavior of the products and optimizing their design.Performing Other Duties: The engineer may perform other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
