The Mechanical Design Engineer II within our Production Engineering team is responsible for designing customer specified custom switchgear products to our G&W's quality standard. This position will specialize in our entire catalog of overhead and underground switchgear products. G&W is excited to engage a self‑motivated and results‑oriented individual to join our fast‑paced, collaborative work environment that offers consistent learning opportunities and problem‑solving experience.As a Mechanical Design Engineer II you will:Lead and own team project communication, schedule, and all aspects of design cycle of moderately complex projects and customer ordersProvide design competency to industry standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC, ANSI, UL, NEMA, etc.)Design products to internal engineering design standards and best practices within customer lead time and quality expectationsMentor, train, coach and maintain technical aptitude among design team membersParticipate in design feasibility contributions to customers and application expertsBe a change agent in department and company by identifying and resolving root causes through problem solving activitiesProvide technical support for internal and external customersCollaborate cross‑functionally to support and provide technical aptitude for company and departmental projects as needed (e.g., Product Development, Aftermarket Support, Application Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing)We are looking for someone who:Holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four‑year collegeHas 3 years of experience in a technical engineering roleHas CAD experiencePossesses excellent written and verbal communication skills and has demonstrated presentation skills to diverse audiencesHas strong analytical design and quantitative problem‑solving skillsPreferably a candidate will also have:CREO CAD software experienceLeadership and training experienceRoot cause analysis / problem‑solving strategiesReliability design toolsDesign for Manufacturability (DFM), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), Design of Experiments (DOE)Experience with Oracle J.D. Edwards Business SystemExperience with industry standardsRelated power distribution experienceWhat we offer you:Typical pay is $84,872‑97,193 annually.Please note the pay information shown above is a general guideline.
