Mechanical Design Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading energy company in Houston, TX. This role will focus strictly on core mechanical engineering design, analysis, and equipment support within a collaborative team environment.The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, sizing, and analyzing mechanical systems and equipment supporting both pilot-stage product development and standardized infrastructure modules (including data center applications). This includes hands‑on work across fluid systems, thermal systems, and static equipment design.Key responsibilities include:Performing mechanical design calculations (flow, pressure drop, thermal loads, equipment sizing)Developing and reviewing 2D and 3D mechanical designs and layoutsSupporting equipment specification, selection, and procurementDesigning and analyzing piping systems, including pipe stress analysisSupporting skid‑based system design and packagingEnsuring mechanical integrity, code compliance, and industry best practices (ASME, API, etc.)Collaborating with manufacturing and operations teams to support fabrication, installation, and commissioningEquipment scope includes:Piping systems, pumps, valves, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and HVAC/mechanical cooling systems.Requirements2–10 years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering roleBachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringExperience with mechanical design and calculations (fluid, thermal, and equipment sizing)Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D design)Nice-to-Have SkillsProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseExperience in data centers, oil & gas (downstream/petrochemical), or industrial/manufacturing environmentsExperience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD toolsProficiency with pipe stress analysis software (e.g., Caesar II)Experience with equipment sizing (pumps, heat exchangers, HVAC systems)Ability to develop and interpret P&IDs and process flow diagrams (PFDs)Familiarity with flow/thermal calculations and system hydraulics#J-18808-Ljbffr
