Mechanical Design Engineer (1099 Contractor) - Siemens NX

Applied Design Corporation is seeking to identify one or two experienced Mechanical Design Engineers to support an anticipated defense-related engineering program. We are building a small team of highly capable CAD professionals that we intend to propose to our customer for upcoming contract work.This opportunity is contingent upon customer approval, but we are looking to establish relationships now with experienced engineers who can help anchor this program from day one and become trusted members of our extended engineering team.What You'll Do Successful candidates will provide mechanical design and CAD support using Siemens NX for a defense-related engineering project. While the exact scope of work will be determined by customer needs, responsibilities may include:Mechanical part and assembly modelingManufacturing and fabrication drawingsGD&T implementation and drawing detailingDesign modifications and engineering change supportCollaboration with customer engineering teamsSupporting projects within an ITAR-controlled environmentRequired Qualifications Demonstrated professional experience using Siemens NX (minimum 3 years required)Mechanical design experience in a professional engineering environmentStrong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing methods, and engineering drawingsExperience creating production-ready CAD models and documentationU.S. Citizen, eligible to work on ITAR-controlled projectsExcellent communication skills and ability to work independentlyPreferred Qualifications Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industriesFamiliarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) environmentsExperience working as an engineering consultant or contractorWork Arrangement Onsite preferred, with some hybrid flexibility depending on project needsAnticipated full-time workload, subject to customer demandInitial engagement expected to be 3+ months, with potential for extensionDaytime availability during standard business hoursWhy Applied Design?
