Director of Operations – Mechanical Construction | Executive Relocation Package | $120,000–$140,000

Lead the growth and performance of a long-established mechanical contracting operation with a company that has more than 70 years of industry success. This permanent leadership opportunity offers the chance to oversee project operations, develop high-performing teams, and drive profitability across commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects.

What You'll Do

Lead operational strategy and oversee the performance of the mechanical construction division.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop the project management team through coaching, accountability, and mentorship.
  • Establish division goals and track performance against operational and financial targets.
  • Improve project profitability through oversight of forecasting, billing, change orders, and project execution.
  • Review financial and operational reports to drive business decisions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Support pre-construction, estimating, and proposal activities.
  • Evaluate team performance and identify training and development opportunities.
  • Participate in hiring decisions and workforce planning.
  • Build a culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure professional and ethical business practices across all operations.

What You Bring

  • 15+ years of mechanical construction experience.
  • Proven leadership experience managing project teams or construction operations.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, costs, budgeting, and project profitability.
  • Experience with forecasting, financial reporting, and operational metrics.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Engineering license preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
