QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current online application on file with the Corporation.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs. and work in enclosed work areas.
  • High school diploma.
  • Background in electronic diesel engine maintenance with the international line of diesel engines including the Caterpillar, International, Cummings, and automotive engines.
  • Able to bring work-related tools to the job site.
  • Must possess a valid Indiana drivers license and be eligible for a Class A PS CDL license.
  • Able to operate all vehicles and equipment currently in use in the transportation department, i.e., vehicle lifts, welding, tire repair, tow truck, etc.
  • Computer literate to include the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Proven experience in maintaining school buses, both chassis and body, preferred.
  • Knowledge of school bus standards and school bus inspection requirements.
  • Must have a demonstrated positive work attitude and verifiable interactions with other employees.
  • Models and practices safe work habits.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the lead mechanic to complete the following:
  • Records usage of replacement parts; helps to maintain parts log and supply inventory.
  • Performs inspections per Indiana State Police guidelines for vehicles licensed to transport students.
  • Assists mechanics and maintains a harmonious relationship with drivers and other corporation employees.
  • Performs system repairs on brakes, transmissions, electric systems, cooling systems, and carburetion systems on all vehicles normally maintained by the transportation department.
  • Records and files bus maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
  • Installs and helps to maintain transportation video and GPS tracking equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
