PurposeThe Meat Cutter ensures the store's meat department operates at the standards set by the company, driving sales and maximizing profitability. The Meat Cutter delivers the highest level of customer service and satisfaction by following the company's meat merchandising plan and trimming /preparing standard cuts of meat as outlined in the Meat Cutter Resource Manual. The Meat Cutter demonstrates excellent teamwork, interpersonal skills, and commitment to the success of the team.ResponsibilitiesUsing knives and power equipment, cuts and/or packages authorized beef, pork and poultry items according to company policies and proceduresWraps, weighs and prices cuts of meat based on company and pricing guidelinesLabels packages according to COOL, USDA and company standardsEnsures displays and case signs are updated appropriately, and meat is merchandised and presented to set standards with a focus on maximizing salesAssists with product orderingMaintains proper date rotation for dated and undated products per company policy, both in the display case and in the storage coolersPrepares and places meat cuts and products in the display counter according to company procedures so they will appear attractive and appealing to the customersReceives, inspects, and stores meat upon delivery, to maintain cold chain and ensure meat qualityEnsures excellent sanitation and quality standards are met daily which adhere to company policyFollows and executes all company policies and procedures which includes but is not limited to: COOL, Food Safety, Sanitation, Meat/Produce Scale operation, Mark Downs, Inventory Processes, Meat POG's, Meat Cutter Resource Manual, Daily Manager Signoff and Meat Cutting ListResponsibilities may include other perishable and non-perishable related duties necessary to maintain optimal store performanceProtects company property, funds and merchandiseMay be assigned to work in more than one store and other areas of the storePerforms other duties as assignedAbout YouMust be 18 years of age or olderHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredExperience safely using manual pallet jacks, hand tools and power equipment, including but not limited to knives, wrappers, scales, slicers, cubing machine, and power saw (where certified to cut meat) preferredCompany work history will be strongly considered, including attendance, work performance, safety, policy compliance and performance managementProficiency in basic math skills required, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisionMust be able to read, write and speak in English. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication, interpersonal skills.
