About the Organization

Senior Resource Association (SRA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the independence, dignity, and well-being of older adults throughout Indian River County. Since 1974, SRA has provided a comprehensive network of services including Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Care, Community Coaching, transportation, volunteer opportunities, and additional programs that help seniors remain healthy, safe, and independent in their homes and communities. 

Join our team in this part-time position with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, working 10:00am to 2:00pm. This is a seasonal position with employment ending on October 31, 2026.

About this Role

Under direct supervision of the Meals on Wheels Program Manager, organizes, and delivers nutritious meals to designated meal sites and homebound seniors enrolled in the Meals on Wheels (MOW) program. Performs program-related assignments as needed to support the goals and objectives of the Nutrition Department while providing excellent customer service and wellness checks for clients. 

Principal Responsibilities

These are examples of the type of work performed. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind work assignments as needed.

  • Organize meals for daily delivery routes.
  • Verify meal quality and accuracy prior to delivery. 
  • Obtain and follow assigned delivery routes and schedules. 
  • Deliver meals tohomebound seniors enrolled in the Meals on Wheels program. 
  • Conduct wellness checks during meal deliveries and report concerns to the Meals on Wheels Manager or Nutrition staff. 
  • Report unusual client situations or emergencies promptly. 
  • Communicate effectively with Nutrition staff and volunteers. 
  • Maintain assigned SRA vehicle and report maintenance or safety concerns. 
  • Follow all Nutrition Program policies, food safety regulations, and quality standards. 
  • Assist with kitchen operations and other Nutrition Department duties as assigned. 
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation. 
  • Attend meetings and required training.
  • Assist with the Pet Meals on Wheels program and distribution to volunteers
  • Follow all policies and procedures of Senior Resource Association and DOEA.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting daily delivery schedules. 
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong verbal communication skills. 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately. 
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

Other Job Characteristics

  •  Majority of work is performed independently in the community.
  •  Frequent driving, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, and reaching.
  •  Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  •  Regular interaction with seniors, volunteers, and community members. 
  •  Physical ability to manage stairs, walk to senior residences, and enter and exit your vehicle frequently within a 2-hour time period.

License/Certification

  • Valid Florida driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Current automobile insurance. 
  • Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must successfully complete a drug screening & Level 2 background screening through Florida's Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse and maintain eligibility with the Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA): https://info.flclearinghouse.com/

Education and Experience

  •  High school diploma or GED preferred.
  •  Previous customer service, food service, delivery, or related experience preferred.
  •  Experience working with older adults is a plus.
