Position Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing, coordinating and assessing Statewide Intake Reports of child abuse cases for the purpose of assessing cases in need of services (forensic interviews, medical, therapy, joint investigations and case review) in line with Daily monitoring of the receipt of Statewide Intakes from DFPS (i.e., on-call investigation supervisor; investigation supervisors in the Child Fatality program)

  • Receive and conduct a preliminary review of Statewide Intakes on daily basis; initiate process for more in-depth review of reports; coordinate forensic interview scheduling among staff.

  • Completion of staffing sheets for each case staffed; providing a copy to DFPS investigation staff and documenting in the assigned database for logging and tracking purposes.

  • Contact appropriate CPS and LE investigators to facilitate initiation of joint investigation and, as needed, scheduling of forensic interview

  • Facilitate dialogue with CPS and LE related to identification of cases in need of forensic interviews, joint investigations, case review, etc.

  • Make determinations related to intake report alignment with CAC/MDT Working Protocols, as needed

  • Maintain current knowledge of partner agency personnel assigned to CAC/MDT investigations, including changes to partner agency assignments impacting the CAC and MDT

  • Establish and maintain open communication and healthy relationships with all partner agency representatives, CAC forensic interviewers, family advocates, medical and mental health providers. MDT Case Review Meeting facilitation; MDT Conflict mediation; MDT Memorandum of Understanding and Working Protocol review, revisions, re-execution.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Mental Health discipline from an accredited college or university

Experience:

  • Two (2) years direct experience working with child abuse and neglect

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • One year knowledge of CPS and Law Enforcement designations, definitions and acronyms

  • Must possess excellent conflict resolution and mediation skills.

  • Familiar with group dynamics, group decision making strategies and able to facilitate participatory discussion.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Effective scheduling and coordination among multiple parties.

  • Familiarity with the case process for advocacy centers, including the various roles / disciplines and areas of authority.
