Overview:

The MDM Product Owner is accountable for the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of enterprise Master Data Management capabilities across key data domains (e.g., Legal Entity and Product). This role serves as the primary business owner of the MDM platform, ensuring mastered data is authoritative, governed, high‑quality, and fit for enterprise consumption.

The Product Owner partners closely with Business Owners, Data Stewards, Architecture, and Engineering teams to translate business needs into MDM capabilities, prioritize backlog delivery, and ensure successful adoption of mastered data across downstream systems and analytics platforms.

How you'll make an impact:

 

  • Serve as business owner of for MDM, leading a team of Data Stewards and working closely with Engieers.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders consuming mastered data.
  • Communicate roadmap progress, upcoming changes, and impacts to downstream consumers.
  • Drive adoption of mastered data through clear documentation, change management, and collaboration.
  • Own the MDM vision, roadmap, and backlog aligned to enterprise data strategy and business priorities.   Own the MDM Domain – responsible for the full lifecycle management of any mastered data or reference data used by the core AJG Data Warehouse
  • Define and prioritize MDM initiatives and enhancements based on business value.
  • Translate business requirements into epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and release reviews for MDM delivery teams.
  • Oversee onboarding of new domains, attributes, and integrations into the MDM ecosystem.
  • Ensure golden record logic, survivorship rules, and lifecycle management align to business expectations.
About you:
  • 7+ years of experience in data management, product ownership, or data governance with strong MDM exposure
  • Hands‑on experience with MDM platforms (e.g., CluedIn, Informatica, Reltio, Semarchy, SAP MDG)
  • Strong understanding of master vs. reference data, golden record concepts, hierarchies and classifications, and data lifecycle and change control
  • Proven experience working in Agile / product‑centric delivery models
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable product requirements
  • Strong stakeholder management and decision‑making skills
  • Strong communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in complex, federated enterprises (e.g., insurance, financial services, regulated industries)
  • Familiarity with analytics and data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, enterprise data lakes, graph databases)
  • Background in data governance frameworks, stewardship models, or data quality programs
  • Product Owner or Agile certifications (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, or equivalent)

The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
