Description
The individual instructor is the key figure in the educational pattern of the college, and his/her attitude, personality, skill, character, and initiative will determine how well the college fulfills its objectives. He/she plays a prominent role in curriculum development through continual evaluation.
Duties
Teaches all classes and labs as assigned;
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the subject;
Communicates with students the goals, objectives, and expectations of the course;
Assigns learning activities which promote understanding of the course content;
Keeps accurate records of attendance and grades and submits all reports and other requested information promptly and accurately;
Maintains discipline in the classroom;
Attends faculty meetings and other required meetings as prescribed;
Meets all classes promptly and regularly and begins and ends class on time;
Participates actively in professional development opportunities in the discipline;
Maintains required office and class hours;
Serves as sponsor and advisor for student clubs and organizations as appropriate;
Advises students with class schedules;
Serves on college councils and committees as assigned;
Effectively communicates with, cooperates with and supports other college personnel in daily activities.
Qualifications and Required Documents
Education: Masters degree is required for Academic instructors. Career/Technical instructors may hold appropriate degrees, certification, and work experience as required.
Other Requirements:
Supports the College mission implicitly and explicitly in the daily execution of all duties and responsibilities;
Actively participates in maintaining an effective and continuous recruiting program;
Participates in Institutional Effectiveness activities;
Represents the College in a professional manner as evidenced by dress, demeanor and the discharge of daily responsibilities;
Fulfills other duties as assigned by the President and/or supervisor.
