Job Summary:
SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the position of Math Tutor/Mentor in the Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP). The Math Tutor/Mentor will assist the Director in implementing the Liberty Partnerships Program day school program designed to promote successful graduation, college readiness and career development among middle/high school students. The Math Tutor/Mentor for the Liberty Partnerships Program reports to the LPP Director. This is a part-time, grant-funded position.
A Tutor will work alongside the LPP Team to support scholars with completing all required work for the school semester or year.
Qualifications:
- College background preferred but not required
- Experience or willingness to work with disadvantaged youth
- Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge in specific academic subjects
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help students learn and understand new concepts and complete assignment in any and or all of the following subjects: High School Mathematics (Algebra I and II)
- Prepare plans to help scholars stay on track with their work
- Follow up with classroom teacher to ensure scholar has completed school work
- Push into classrooms to support teachers in the facilitation of their lessons
- Help scholars in completing all projects and assignments
- Co-facilitate LPP workshops when needed
- Collect student data
- Complete other LPP tasks as needed
Salary:
This is a part time position: Mon- Thurs. Hours are flexible. You will work a minimum of 4 hours and up to a maximum of 28 hours per week. Starting pay is $17.00 per hour and is negotiable depending on education and experience. There are some paid holidays. There are no benefits such as health insurance or pension associated with this position.
