Job Summary
The high school mathematics teacher provides structured instructional environments to guide students through the complex principles of Algebra II and Geometry. Essential Roles and Responsibilities
  • Instructional Delivery: Plan, prepare, and execute engaging lesson plans utilizing the 70/30 active learning model where students do the majority of the working and thinking.
  • Standards Alignment: Map all curriculum units directly to the Tennessee Department of Education high school mathematics frameworks, ensuring coverage of concepts like imaginary numbers, quadratic functions, proofs, and coordinate geometry.
  • Data-Driven Intervention: Analyze benchmark, formative, and summative assessment data to recognize gaps in student comprehension and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Adapt teaching methodologies to provide tiered support for students performing below grade level, as well as modifications for students with individualized education programs (IEPs).
  • Testing Preparation: Prepare students systematically for the state-mandated Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) and End-of-Course (EOC) exams in Algebra II and Geometry.
  • Classroom Management: Cultivate a safe, structured, and respectful classroom environment built on positive reinforcement and clear behavioral boundaries.
  • Professional Collaboration: Actively engage in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), school-wide staff huddles, and data meetings with peer educators and administration.
  • Administrative Compliance: Maintain highly accurate student records including daily attendance, electronic gradebooks, behavior tracking logs, and report cards.
