The Stony Brook School seeks a gifted, mission-aligned Math teacher who loves mathematics, loves students, and sees teaching as a work of Christian formation. This position will likely center on Pre-Calculus Honors, with opportunities to teach advanced junior- and senior-level courses depending on departmental needs and the candidate's background.
Founded in 1922, The Stony Brook School is a coeducational Christian college-preparatory boarding and day school for students in grades 7–12. Located on a 55-acre campus on Long Island's North Shore, SBS combines academic rigor, authentic Christian faith, and a diverse global community.
We are seeking a teacher who loves mathematics, loves students, and sees teaching as a form of Christian formation. The ideal candidate will bring strong mathematical preparation, excellent classroom instincts, and a desire to help students grow in their pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
Our Math Department offers a robust range of upper-level opportunities, with six courses and nearly 100 students pursuing mathematics beyond AP Calculus. In the 2025–26 school year, SBS had 22 AIME qualifiers and four USAMO candidates.

Life at SBS
SBS faculty are active members of a vibrant boarding and day school community. Beyond the classroom, full-time faculty typically teach 4–5 classes, lead or assist with 1–2 co-curricular commitments, and participate in the residential life of the school.
Faculty responsibilities may include coaching athletics, leading clubs or co-curricular programs, supervising evening or weekend activities, chaperoning events, proctoring study halls, supporting community meals, and mentoring students outside the classroom.

Compensation
Salary Range: $34,397 – $85,000 Final salary will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and role responsibilities.
