We are seeking a dynamic and thoughtful Montessori educator to teach Mathematics and Science at the Secondary I (ages 12-15) and Secondary II (ages 15-18) levels. The ideal candidate will bring subject expertise, a passion for adolescent development, and a commitment to Montessori philosophy. This teacher will guide students through rigorous, inquiry-based learning experiences that integrate conceptual understanding, real-world application, and interdisciplinary thinking.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Development
Design and deliver engaging math and science curriculum aligned with Montessori principles and adolescent developmental needs
Teach courses such as Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus/Calculus (as appropriate), Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics
Incorporate project-based and experiential learning, including labs, fieldwork, and student-led inquiry
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning styles and abilities
Student Guidance & Assessment
Serve as an academic advisor, supporting students' goal-setting, progress tracking, and personal development
Provide timely, narrative-based feedback and maintain detailed student records
Prepare students for post-secondary pathways, including college readiness where applicable
Classroom & Community Leadership
Foster a respectful, collaborative, and intellectually curious classroom environment
Support the Montessori model of student independence, responsibility, and community engagement
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate curriculum across disciplines
Participate in school events, trips, and community activities
Professional Responsibilities
Engage in ongoing professional development related to Montessori education and subject areas
Attend faculty meetings, parent conferences, and school functions
Uphold the mission and values of the school community
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, or a related field
Teaching experience at the middle and/or high school level
Strong content knowledge in math and at least one science discipline
Commitment to student-centered, inquiry-based education
Preferred:
Montessori Secondary I/II credential (AMI, AMS, or equivalent), or willingness to obtain
Experience with project-based learning and interdisciplinary curriculum design
Familiarity with college preparatory standards and assessments
