Materials Specialist

Working under close supervision of the Materials Manager, the Materials Specialist will perform routine logistical functions to ensure the efficient flow of materials through the production lifecycle. This role focuses on applying mathematical and statistical methods to optimize inventory movement and production scheduling, including: Assist in analyzing production schedules and use mathematical models to estimate work-hour requirements for basic job assignments; Confer with supervisors of various departments to assist in coordinating the standard flow of products through the facility; Coordinate the execution of physical inventories and use statistical tools to monitor parts levels, performing continuous cycle counts under guided instruction; Assist in designing part path mapping (from dock to line-side) by applying optimization techniques to minimize material handling; Analyze routine receiving and inventory reports to help develop schedules for material handling and enter logistical data into the ERP system; Help set up and execute standard logistics activities, including assigning dock and storage locations based on pre-selected path mapping; Assist in the movement of materials as required to maintain workflow and support the implementation of in-plant material handling plans; etc.
