The City of Oxnard's Public Works Department, Environmental Resources Division, is seeking a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) Supervisor to oversee daily operations at the City's MRF, Buyback Center, Antifreeze, Batteries, Oil and Paint (ABOP) facility, and related post-collection recycling activities. The ideal candidate will have strong operational, safety, leadership, and regulatory compliance experience within a recycling, solid waste, or industrial processing environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
PAYROLL/CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Maintenance Crew Supervisor SUPERVISION EXERCISED/SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Incumbents supervise paraprofessional and support staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures. Receives general supervision on routine items which are performed according to established standards and procedures and receives specific work instruction regarding non-routine matters and deadlines. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This classification is distinguished from the Maintenance Specialist, Senior in that it provides direct supervision of assigned crews, staff and/or first-level supervisors. WORK SCHEDULE: May vary based on service demands, staffing levels, emergencies, special events, and departmental assignments. The schedule will be determined at the City's discretion based on the Division's operational needs. This position requires working on Saturdays as part of the regular work schedule. This position may also be required to work evenings, holidays, and additional hours as necessary. Work is performed in both office and field environments. The City does not offer hybrid or remote work.
