Job Title: Material Handling Equipment Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on repairing and maintaining material handling equipment at customer sites, with a primary emphasis on Crown forklifts and related systems. You will travel in a company-provided van, use your own tools, and perform preventive, reactive, and emergency maintenance to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain Crown material handling equipment, including forklifts and related systems, at customer locations.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on material handling equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

  • Respond promptly to reactive and emergency repair requests, diagnosing issues quickly and implementing effective solutions.

  • Use industrial electrical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair electrical components and systems on material handling equipment.

  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems to identify faults, replace components, and ensure proper operation.

  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and manuals to guide troubleshooting and repair activities.

  • Document maintenance and repair work accurately, including parts used, work performed, and equipment status.

  • Operate safely at all times by following established safety procedures and guidelines while working in shops, warehouses, and customer sites.

  • Drive a company van to and from job sites, managing time and routes efficiently to meet service commitments.

  • Maintain and use personal tools in good working condition to perform all required service tasks effectively.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a forklift mechanic or service technician working on material handling equipment.

  • Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance on material handling equipment.

  • Industrial electrical experience, including troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems.

  • Experience working with hydraulic systems on industrial or material handling equipment.

  • Experience working with pneumatic systems on industrial or material handling equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and equipment manuals.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a company van.

  • Ability to supply and effectively use personal tools required for equipment maintenance and repair.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Material handling equipment repairs across various models and configurations.

  • Experience working in industrial environments such as warehouses, distribution centers, or small shops.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple service calls and maintenance schedules.

  • Clear communication skills to interact with site personnel and provide updates on equipment status.

Work Environment

The role is based out of a small shop environment, but most of the workday is spent on the road and onsite at customer facilities. You will frequently work in warehouse and distribution settings, servicing material handling equipment where it operates. The position involves driving a company van between locations and performing hands-on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic work in industrial environments. You are expected to bring and use your own tools while the company supplies the service vehicle and access to equipment documentation, schematics, and manuals.

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
