Job Summary
The Clinician provides clinical services within the Comprehensive Services Center (CSC), including conducting assessments to determine appropriate levels of care and coordinating access to services. This role develops treatment plans in collaboration with individuals served and provides individual, group, and family therapy to support functional, social, personal, and recreational skill development. The Clinician ensures timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation.
 
Responsibilities
  • Provides individual, group, and family therapy to support functional, social, personal, and recreational skill development. 
  • Completes intake procedures to facilitate access to CSC and community-based services.
  • Monitors and supports symptom stabilization through ongoing assessment.
  • Conducts mental status exams for individuals in crisis; if licensed, assists in emergencies and completes required admission documentation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Florida Baker Act (Chapter 394) statutes, forms, and procedures.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, and supervisors.
  • Assesses and monitors risk, trauma symptoms, and signs of abuse or neglect; follows appropriate reporting protocols.
  • Completes comprehensive psychosocial assessments at admission and as needed.
  • Develops and updates strengths-based treatment plans in collaboration with individuals, families (as appropriate), and providers.
  • Monitors and documents progress toward treatment goals.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and complete clinical records, including all services, contacts, and communications.
  • Assists with service delivery at other sites or programs as needed due to staffing needs.

  • Reduces time spent on documentation, allowing more focus on client interaction and care 
  • Transforms brief notes or session conversations into complete, clinically appropriate documentation 
  • Supports accurate, compliant documentation while allowing staff to review and finalize notes 
  • Provides helpful insights from sessions to support care planning and continuity 
  • Accessible on desktop or mobile for flexibility across different work settings 
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or a related Human Services field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience working with individuals with mental illness required.
  • Experience working with adults with chronic mental illness preferred.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in MHRC EHR System within three months of employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and internet use required.
  • Valid Florida Registered Intern credential (IMH, ISW, or IMT) required within 90 days of hire. Florida licensure (LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT) preferred.
  • Ability to make sound, independent clinical decisions, including recognizing and responding to risks and emergencies.
  • Excellent customer service skills are essential and this individual must be able to interact appropriately with internal and external customers, including individuals served, families, caregivers, community service providers, supervisory staff and other department professionals.  
Position Details
This position is a Full Time Days position: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Mental Health Resource Center

Founded in Jacksonville in May 1977, Mental Health Resource Center, Inc. (MHRC) is a Florida not-for-profit corporation that provides a wide range of behavioral health and social services to the community.  Included in MHRC’s service array are 24-hour emergency services; inpatient psychiatric services for children, adolescents and adults; and numerous outpatient services, including medication management, case management, counseling, supported housing, psychosocial rehabilitation, two programs for the homeless, a therapeutic family program, state hospital liaison services, forensic services, in-jail services, and nine Florida Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) programs for adults with severe and persistent mental illness located in Clearwater, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Kissimmee, Naples, Rockledge, Tampa, and Winter Haven. 

Since 1989, MHRC’s programs have been fully accredited by The Joint Commission.  Inpatient services are licensed by the State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration.  MHRC is a certified agency of United Way of Northeast Florida.      

MHRC accepts and directly bills most insurance plans, including Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurance plans.  Individuals who do not have health insurance and cannot afford our standard rates may be eligible for a reduced fee, depending on their income and number of household members.  Some MHRC programs are funded in part by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and its managing entities, LSF Health Systems, Central Florida Behavioral Health Network, and Central Florida Cares Health System; the federal government; and the City of Jacksonville.
