The Target+ Marketplace team is looking for a collaborative, energetic and guest-centric Marketplace Senior New Business Development Manager, Acquisition to join our team! This is an ideal position for a sales-oriented self-starter who is looking to take ownership of new business goals for a product pyramid on the Target+ Marketplace platform. The Marketplace Business Development team at Target is responsible for identifying, engaging and contracting new business partners (DTC brands, vendors and retailers) to drive business development goals for the Marketplace. We are looking for a team player with strong experience in digital sales and/or merchandising to help fill this role. This person will need to build a deep understanding of the digital marketplace landscape and the technical requirements of the Marketplace, while maintaining a guest-oriented mindset and partner-friendly perspective. To effectively secure the most meaningful, productive partnerships, the role will need to leverage strong strategic, analytic, and communication skills to build long-term internal and external relationships.

Marketplace Senior New Business Development Manager, Acquisition will be responsible for building a strategy that includes discovery and identification of partners through competitive analysis and consistent monitoring of Target's digital businesses. This will require close alignment with the Marketplace Partner Growth & Management and enterprise merchant teams to devise and execute strategies to solve current gaps in the Target.com offering. The Senior Manager will be driven to stay on top of industry trends and emerging DTC businesses in order to unlock new, complementary merchandising strategies and elevate the Target digital guest experience.

The Marketplace Senior New Business Development Manager, Acquisition will also need to demonstrate a healthy understanding of the continually evolving operational, technical and legal requirements of the Marketplace. This role will set the tone and expectations for what it means to be invited and extended a contract to enter into a partnership on Target+ Marketplace. We are looking for a thoughtful, nimble Senior Manager who can garner excitement and enthusiasm to join the platform, while also building long-term partnerships that are mutually beneficial for both Target and the Partners we bring onto the Target+ platform.

About You:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience required.

  • 5+ years of experience in digital marketplaces and/or merchandising OR 4+ years of experience in sales/business development roles required.

  • Experience managing corporate contracts including facilitating legal, operational and/or financial terms and policies required.

  • Experience negotiating complex business agreements.

  • Strong communication skills, both internal and externally facing, across all levels of an organization required.

  • Experience managing a wide pipeline of external prospective vendors/business partners strongly preferred.

  • Salesforce Salescloud experience is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to build complex go-to-market sourcing strategies based off financial and profitability goals preferred.

  • Strong project management skills are preferred.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
