Position Summary

Participate in the coordination of marketing activities for an assigned department; research, improve and expand social media platforms, campaigns, plans and metrics; create, edit, layout, typeset and illustrate various publications; prepare presentations and/or speeches; maintain records, develop reports and maintain assigned marketing campaign budgets; implement program goals and objectives and perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of assigned area of responsibility.

Essential and Supplemental Functions

SSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to thefunctions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of thejob with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Participate in the coordination of marketing activities for department including advertising and publicity programs.
  • Research, improve and expand social media platforms, campaigns, plans and metrics, involving Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others as assigned.
  • Create, write, edit, layout, and illustrate various publications, letters and reports for assigned functions; capture and edit photos; use Adobe Creative Suite design tools including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator on an Apple Mac computer and/or PC.
  • Write and/or edit speeches, press releases, brochures, fact sheets, newsletters, correspondence and relevant meeting agenda items for assigned department.
  • Monitor program performance; recommend and implement modifications to systems and procedures; develop new marketing strategies to promote assigned department.
  • Serve as liaison for assigned marketing activities during and after events; provide weekend services for special events and conventions; maintain public relations.
  • Develop and produce a variety of marketing tools, newsletters and brochures, including video scripting and editing, to promote employment, training and educational projects.
  • Research and create marketing materials necessary for assigned promotional activities; design, write, edit, and illustrate marketing materials.
  • Maintain records and develop reports concerning new or ongoing programs and program effectiveness; maintain records for assigned activities; maintain and file event reports; prepare statistical reports as required.
  • Participate in the preparation and administration of assigned divisional budget; submit budget recommendations; maintain assigned marketing campaign budgets; monitor expenditures.
  • Negotiate contracts with agents, artists or organizations; monitor contractual obligations, fund allocations and expenditures.
  • May develop ticketing plans for various sponsored events; make all revenue deposits in City approved format and maintain all permanent records of revenue.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitor program compliance with laws, rules and regulations related to provision of community and related services.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, business, psychology, or sociology; and

Three (3) years of marketing experience.

Social media management or content creation experience preferred.

Video or photography experience preferred.

Desktop publishing or Adobe InDesign experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Drivers License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

May work evenings, weekends and/or odd hours.

Office environment; exposure to computer screens.

Physical:

Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time.
