Job Title: Marketing Intern

Department: Development

Reports to: Director of Communications

Since 1975 the Metropolitan Organization Countering Sexual Assault (MOCSA) has been an essential part of the Kansas City metro. SUMMARY

MOCSA is seeking a dynamic, self-starter to assist with marketing, graphics, and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing and design in a community-based nonprofit organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Content Creation: Write blog posts, impact stories, videos, newsletter, and email campaigns to engage donors and supporters.
  • Graphic Design & Digital Support: Design marketing collateral (flyers, social graphics, ads, presentation materials, etc.)
  • Social Media Support: Create and monitor posts across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Event Promotion: Support the planning, promotion, and execution of fundraising events and community initiatives.
Media Relations Support: Help prepare press releases and media kits.

Research and Reporting: Conduct research on market trends and assist in preparing reports on marketing metrics and campaign outcomes

• Other duties as assigned.

EDCUATION/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and verbal communications skills.
  • Basic understanding of digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management.
  • Strong creativity and graphic design experience including working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Creative thinker with an eye for design and attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of MOCSA and the individuals and communities we serve.


LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

• Gain hands-on experience in strategic marketing and communications within a non-profit context.

• Develop skills in content creation, brand management, and digital marketing.

• Participate in meaningful work that makes a direct impact on the community.

WORK HOURS & LOCATION

10-15 hours/week, hybrid work, flexible hours. Minimum 3 - 6-month commitment.

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION

This is an unpaid internship, but students may be eligible for academic credit, subject to approval by the college or university.
