FirstLine Schools: MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications
FLSA Status: Exempt Position Type: Full Time Location: Network Office, with travel to school sites as needed
Position Summary:
The Marketing and Communications Manager develops and executes marketing and communication strategies, manages FirstLine’s digital presence, and drives community engagement to ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels. The role spans internal staff communications, external storytelling, graphic design and content creation, social media strategy, and student recruitment support. The Manager works primarily from the network office with regular visits to school sites for events and projects.
Position Responsibilities:
Internal Communications
- Leads internal communications including “This Week at FirstLine,” “Stall Street Journal,” “CEO Memos,” “Shoots and Leaves,” and other staff communications as needed
- Collaborates with the Director of Marketing and Communications on storytelling and content strategy
- Manages the internal staff portal (Google platform), including communication tools and templates
- Supports summer and network-wide professional development events, including creating signage and coordinating pep rallies
- Works with network directors and school leaders to foster collaboration and consistent messaging across the network
External Communications
- Supports external communications, including quarterly newsletter development and content curation
- Collaborates with the Director of Marketing and Communications on external content strategy and storytelling
- Supports crisis communications as needed, working with operations and executive teams to create and disseminate timely messaging
- Works with other New Orleans CMOs and community organizations on coordinated messaging and campaigns
Graphic Design & Content
- Manages and maintains FirstLine Schools’ photo and video archives
- Ensures brand consistency across all communication channels and materials
- Curates and creates engaging news stories and updates throughout the year
- Compiles and disseminates all-staff communication emails with approval from the CSAO
Online Media & Social Strategy
- Leads website management and maintenance, including annual site audits and regular content updates
- Drives social media strategy across all platforms, managing a team of four social media ambassadors
- Develops and executes social media campaigns that showcase balanced representation across all school sites
- Manages the annual social media budget and tracks performance metrics
Student Recruitment
- Supports community outreach events (including daycare visits and enrollment fairs) and maintains relationships with key community stakeholders
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required; degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field preferred
- Experience in marketing, communications, or a related role, preferably in education or nonprofit settings
- Advanced graphic design skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or similar software
- Strong web and social media management experience; demonstrated ability to drive strategy and track performance metrics
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Meet, Sheets) and strong general software skills
- Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills; keen attention to detail
- Experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds
