Reports to: Associate Director, Strategic Communications
Summary of Position
The ICON Water Trails Marketing & Communications Coordinator is a key member of the Marketing Department, supporting the development of engaging visual and written content that advances the organizational priorities of ICON Water Trails. This multifaceted role provides the opportunity to apply a diverse skill set across copywriting, content coordination, graphic design, and digital communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of the organization’s marketing and communications strategy across digital and print channels.
- Draft, schedule, and monitor social media content in coordination with the Associate Director, Strategic Communications.
- Track and report monthly social media and digital performance metrics.
- Assist with creation and distribution of newsletters, including monthly external and bi-monthly internal communications.
- Maintain routine website updates, including construction related project updates.
- Provide basic graphic design support for organizational communications, presentations, and event materials.
- Support communications needs related to donor, public, and organizational events.
- Monitor digital channels for comments, messages, and engagement opportunities.
- Perform other communications-related duties as assigned.
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage recurring communications priorities across multiple platforms.
- Relationship-oriented and adaptable, capable of supporting marketing and communication best practices to advance organizational priorities.
Qualifications
- Ability to use standard software to complete assigned tasks, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Canva, Hootsuite, and other additional platforms as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for use across a variety of platforms.
- Understanding of social media platforms, social media marketing strategies, and best practices and trends.
- Experience in content development for a variety of digital and print platforms.
- Basic graphic design experience required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with team members, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Must be highly motivated with the ability to organize multiple deadlines and objectives in order to meet desired outcomes.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, graphic design, or a related field required.
- One to three years of relevant professional experience in marketing, communications, social media management, or content development preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Benefits & Work Environment
This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position classified under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), working approximately 20–25 hours per week. The employee is eligible for overtime compensation at a rate of one and one-half times their regular rate of pay for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a single workweek. Iowa Confluence Water Trails complies with all applicable federal and state wage and hour laws.
Benefits: Part-time employees are eligible to participate in the organization's 401(k) retirement savings plan in accordance with plan eligibility requirements. Iowa Confluence Water Trails does not currently offer health insurance, dental, vision, paid time off, or other supplemental benefits for this position. This benefits structure is subject to change at the organization's discretion.
