Normal Work Schedule: Flexible; 10 to 20 hours per week.
Job Summary: The Marketing Assistant - Graphic Design provides design, technical, and production support for various promotional materials for University Recreation. Works with the Communications Specialist to develop appropriate marketing displays and campaign strategies. Produces assigned marketing materials in Adobe Creative Suite. Adheres to assigned schedules and meet deadlines. Provides routine updates on production of work and communication with professional staff in a timely manner. Develops apparel designs, social media graphics, and logo creation for various UREC departments and programs. Assists with other various projects and tasks as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at The University of Alabama. Must be available to work at least 10 hours per week.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Some graphic design experience and/or relevant coursework. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator). Direct experience with final preparation and packaging of print materials. Creativity, ability to accept critical feedback, and willingness to provide input on projects.
Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of CMYK and PMS color grids. Strong grammar and proof-reading skills. Self-motivation and ability to work cooperatively as part of a team. Willingness to learn and accept direction/feedback from peers and supervisors. Leadership and public relations skills. Decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Adobe certifications preferred but not required.
Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
