The Market Vice President of Patient Safety is a senior leadership role based in Asheville, NC, serving a 853-bed Magnet®-designated regional medical center that functions as the area's only trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and Level III NICU, and also houses the only children's hospital in western North Carolina. The broader six-hospital system spans 1,219 licensed beds across acute care and rehabilitation settings, along with post-acute care services.

The role. Reporting into senior system leadership, the Market VP of Patient Safety holds market-wide accountability for patient safety strategy and risk management across multiple facilities. This leader drives the identification and mitigation of patient safety risks, advances safety culture, and oversees risk management and claims activities. A core focus is the design and execution of the annual Patient Safety Program, applying systems thinking and reliable design principles to achieve measurable reductions in avoidable harm. The role also maintains regulatory readiness across CMS Conditions of Participation and other applicable standards, while leading patient safety education and process improvement initiatives to strengthen outcomes across the market.

What we're looking for.
  • Bachelor's degree in a clinically related field; registered nurse background preferred
  • Master's degree (MHA, MBA, MSN, or related field) preferred
  • 4 or more years of recent leadership experience in a clinical and quality improvement-related role
  • Previous experience in a multi-facility environment preferred
  • Active clinical licensure required; RN preferred
  • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) required

Schedule. Full-time, Monday through Friday administrative hours with occasional evening and weekend rounding required.

Compensation. $137,000 - $190,000 per year plus Incentive Bonus of Up To 17.5%
