JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title:            Market Produce Clerk
Department:               Market
Report To:                  Market Manager and Market Supervisor
Salary:                        $ 17.00 hourly

Position Summary:
The primary focus of the Produce Clerk is to follow established produce procedures for receiving merchandise including inspecting the delivered, pricing the produce, restocking cases to insure freshness and quality, accuracy and product rotation. Provide excellent customer service and address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a fresh and appealing produce display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked, rotating, and removing out-of-date products.
  • Maintain accurate produce department signage and pricing.
  • Stock and clean produce shelves and displays.
  • Maintain produce back stock in good order.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized working and shopping environment.
  • Follow and comply with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adhere to safe work practices.
  • Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Previous experience in produce department and stocking/care of produce products preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • High school diploma or GED required.
                                   
Physical:
  • Must be able to work on wet floors and in temperature extremes of both hot and cold.
  • Requires standing for extended periods of time, frequent bending, grasping, reaching and some climbing.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. unaided.
