ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technically proficient in all tasks, work processes, and equipment at a very high standard.
Accountable for completion of daily work assignments.
Works under close supervision or follows detailed instructions.
May be required to perform non-craft work as needed.
Monitors working environment for compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and health
regulations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May be called upon to supervise a specific task or coordinate the work of small work groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
Comprehensive knowledge of tools relating to the maintenance and repair of heavy marine equipment. Extensive knowledge of equipment, work processes and techniques used in repairs and maintenance
thereof. Must demonstrate the ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, job specifications,
instruction manuals, and manufacturer handbooks.
SPECIFIC TASKS AND SKILLS LEVELS
• Perform routine, preventive and corrective maintenance on shipyard equipment to include tugs,
barges, cranes, forklifts, rigging equipment, chainfalls, pickup trucks, mobile cranes, automobiles,
portable pumps, generators, cable reels and power units, ventilator blowers and lighting equipment.
Have proper tools needed to accomplish job assignments and use tools properly and safely.
Must be able to overhaul pumps, engines and valves, and dial-in pump motors.
Must be able to overhaul gearboxes on valve actuators and capstans.
Lend technical assistance to subordinates.
Ensure assigned work area is cleaned at end of shift.
Demonstrate outstanding productivity, attitude and attendance.
Must be able to perform the duties described above in a satisfactory manner.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years experience on repairs and maintenance of various heavy marine equipment in
professional garage/shop
