Position Overview
The Manufacturing Technician II (Laser & Console Systems) is responsible for testing, aligning, troubleshooting, and validating both laser subsystems and full console systems for laser-based medical devices. This role ensures all products meet established performance, quality, and safety standards prior to release and shipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform final testing of medical device consoles in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
- Verify system performance, reliability, laser output, and safety features.
- Accurately document test results, deviations, and system behavior.
- Operate and test laser subsystems using defined protocols and procedures.
- Troubleshoot issues including energy output, pulse shape, and system inconsistencies.
- Support continuous improvement of laser testing methods, processes, and fixtures.
- Perform precise optical and fiber alignment on laser assemblies.
- Identify and resolve alignment-related issues to maintain production throughput and product quality.
- Conduct quality inspections on consoles and laser components.
- Follow all regulatory requirements, safety guidelines, and proper laser-handling protocols.
- Assist Quality Assurance with deviations, investigations, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Recommend and support improvements to testing, alignment, and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience testing laser, optical, or electronic systems (medical device industry preferred).
- Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, optical power meters, and alignment tools.
- Strong understanding of laser safety standards, optical components, and testing methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electronic, optical, mechanical, and software-related issues.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation practices.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
