Job Title: Manufacturing Technician 3 (Day Shift)

Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician 3 assembles, tests, troubleshoots, and prepares complex systems for shipment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role integrates mechanical, electrical, and control components, supports manufacturing engineers in resolving issues, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate safe work practices at all times, including electrical safety, proper lifting techniques, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow detailed work instructions to integrate subassemblies and components into complex systems in preparation for functional testing.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics to correctly assemble and verify system configurations.
  • Use precision measurement tools, including torque wrenches, digital multimeters (DMMs), height standards, levels, and specialized electronic data-gathering tools as prescribed in work instructions.
  • Disassemble and pack completed systems in preparation for shipment and delivery to customers, ensuring proper protection and documentation.
  • Write clear and accurate daily pass-downs to communicate build status, issues, and progress to other team members and shifts.
  • Store and maintain build data and records as directed, ensuring accurate documentation of assembly and test activities.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on complex systems and assist manufacturing engineers in diagnosing and resolving more complex issues.
  • Identify and communicate improvement opportunities related to safety, manufacturing processes, or 6S practices as they arise.
  • Use standard hand tools and standard office equipment to complete daily tasks and documentation.
  • Perform repetitive assembly and testing tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required to support production schedules and revenue requirements.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations and team objectives.

Essential Skills

  • 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in assembling and troubleshooting complex systems, including equipment with mechanical, electrical, vacuum-based, and control components.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools such as torque wrenches, digital multimeters (DMMs), height standards, precision gauges, levels, and electronic data-gathering tools.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting experience on complex equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of hardware, software, and control systems used in manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to work the second shift schedule from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM.
  • Strong aptitude for identifying and resolving recurring problems in assembly and test processes.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to interface with assembly technicians, engineering, leadership, customers, sales, and marketing.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as needed.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to use standard hand tools and standard office equipment to complete daily tasks and documentation.
  • Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required to support production and revenue goals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a technical engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Experience in technical field service is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience using MS Word and Excel is preferred.
  • Familiarity with 6S or similar workplace organization and continuous improvement practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in assembly, testing, and documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

Work Environment

The position follows a second shift schedule from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with the expectation of overtime, holiday, and weekend work as needed to meet production and revenue requirements. Technicians regularly use standard hand tools, precision measurement instruments such as torque wrenches and digital multimeters, height standards, levels, and specialized electronic data-gathering tools. Standard office equipment and software, including MS Word and Excel, support documentation and communication. The work involves lifting up to 50 pounds, performing repetitive tasks, and working while sitting or standing for extended periods. The environment emphasizes electrical and mechanical safety, clean and organized work areas, and adherence to 6S and continuous improvement practices, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork.

This is a Contract position based out of San Jose, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
