Manufacturing Quality Systems & Compliance Manager

Picture your morning: you scan overnight quality metrics, step onto the shop floor to coach a supervisor through a control-plan update, and huddle with production to prioritize a corrective action. By midday, you’re reviewing a process-change request, signing off as the ISO 9001/AS9100 management representative, and aligning document control with a new work instruction. The afternoon brings an MRB disposition, a supplier follow-up on an incoming material deviation, and prep for a customer audit. Before you leave, you check the calibration schedule and schedule an external service—closing the loop on a day centered on quality, safety, and throughput.

What you’ll own

  • Lead and sustain the quality management system; establish, implement, and continuously improve company quality standards and procedures.
  • Act as the ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 management representative and primary point of contact for audits and certification matters.
  • Administer document control—create, revise, release, and maintain quality policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Coordinate and track employee training for new or updated quality procedures to ensure effective adoption on the floor.
  • Champion quality across the facility; partner with supervisors and production teams to embed best practices and resolve issues.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact product quality, safety, or output; conduct risk analyses and drive corrective and preventive measures.
  • Evaluate and approve process changes while assessing impacts to requirements, controls, and established practices.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute internal audits; manage corrective actions and verify their effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and support customer, regulatory, and third‑party certification audits; review results and oversee closure of findings.
  • Monitor test and inspection processes, closing gaps and implementing improvements to methods and measurement.
  • Partner with suppliers to ensure incoming materials and components meet defined specifications and quality expectations.
  • Gather, analyze, and report quality data and trends; use insights to drive proactive improvements.
  • Lead the MRB process for nonconforming material—from investigation to disposition and systemic corrective action.
  • Interface with customers to investigate and resolve complaints and ensure sustainable corrective actions.
  • Perform or delegate reviews of purchase specifications to confirm clarity, capability, and compliance.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to elevate process capability and reduce variation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Maintain calibration schedules for inspection and test equipment; coordinate external calibration services as needed.
  • Pursue professional development via training, seminars, and sharing of industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field preferred; relevant equivalent experience considered.
  • 5–7 years in a manufacturing quality role.
  • Proven leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
  • Experience overseeing a laboratory or quality lab preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems.
  • Expertise in internal auditing, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead teams, set direction, and collaborate across functions.
  • Clear interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced production setting.
  • Advanced data analysis skills and data‑driven decision making.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
