Akkodis is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer for a Contract with a client in Sterling Heights, MI. The ideal candidate is responsible for supporting axle assembly operations by improving manufacturing processes, driving quality, and optimizing productivity through continuous improvement initiatives.
Rate Range: $40/hour to $42/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Manufacturing Process Engineer Job Responsibilities include:
Support and improve axle assembly manufacturing processes by applying engineering principles and driving efficiency, quality, and safety enhancements.
Lead equipment installation, commissioning, and process validation to ensure reliable and capable production operations.
Conduct process audits, ergonomic assessments, and implement corrective actions to maintain compliance and optimize workflows.
Analyze production issues, identify root causes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
Develop process documentation, work instructions, and quality standards to ensure consistency and operational excellence.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve machining and throughput constraints while driving productivity and performance targets.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, preferably in automotive or axle assembly.
Strong expertise in lean manufacturing, process validation, and root cause analysis with hands-on experience in FMEA, PPAP, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Proven ability to lead equipment commissioning, resolve production issues, and drive process optimization while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $42.00 per hour
