Your Role

Akkodis is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer for a Contract with a client in Sterling Heights, MI. The ideal candidate is responsible for supporting axle assembly operations by improving manufacturing processes, driving quality, and optimizing productivity through continuous improvement initiatives.

Rate Range: $40/hour to $42/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Manufacturing Process Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

  • Support and improve axle assembly manufacturing processes by applying engineering principles and driving efficiency, quality, and safety enhancements.

  • Lead equipment installation, commissioning, and process validation to ensure reliable and capable production operations.

  • Conduct process audits, ergonomic assessments, and implement corrective actions to maintain compliance and optimize workflows.

  • Analyze production issues, identify root causes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Develop process documentation, work instructions, and quality standards to ensure consistency and operational excellence.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve machining and throughput constraints while driving productivity and performance targets.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, preferably in automotive or axle assembly.

  • Strong expertise in lean manufacturing, process validation, and root cause analysis with hands-on experience in FMEA, PPAP, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Proven ability to lead equipment commissioning, resolve production issues, and drive process optimization while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $42.00 per hour
