A day in this role (Elgin, IL)
You arrive on the floor, review the production schedule, and bring your station online. As the line starts, you dial in settings, watch the controls, and keep output steady. Parts reach you fresh off the machine—you catch them safely, check for defects, and confirm they meet spec. You log counts, note any variances, and keep your area spotless. If something drifts, you jump in with the team to troubleshoot, make small adjustments, or perform basic preventive care so the run stays on track.
What you will do
- Run and oversee production equipment, making minor adjustments to maintain steady throughput and quality.
- Catch components at the machine exit and perform visual/dimensional checks against quality standards.
- Handle routine preventive tasks—cleaning, lubrication, and simple maintenance—to keep machines in top condition.
- Work with teammates to diagnose and resolve jams, defects, or performance issues quickly.
- Keep a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all safety procedures.
- Record production data (counts, scrap, downtime) and escalate discrepancies to supervisors.
What you bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; any technical training in machinery is a plus.
- Experience in manufacturing or machine operation preferred.
- Keen attention to detail and a strong quality mindset.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment while managing multiple tasks.
- Clear communication and a collaborative approach.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
