Our client is seeking an Engineering Manager to own manufacturing process performance, drive continuous improvement, develop tooling and workstation solutions, and ensure safety, quality, cost, and throughput targets are consistently met. This is a hands‑on, shop‑floor‑focused leadership role requiring strong technical depth, urgency, and the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.


The ideal candidate is a hands‑on engineering leader who thrives on the shop floor, excels at solving complex production problems, and delivers measurable improvements in safety, quality, cost, and throughput. This person communicates exceptionally well, collaborates effectively across functions, and brings a high sense of urgency to every challenge.

Responsibilities:

Process Ownership

  • Develop and maintain PFMEA, Control Plans, and work instructions.
  • Reduce costs, improve throughput, enhance safety, and strengthen process capability.
  • Lead daily process improvement efforts with operators, supervisors, and engineering staff.
  • Evaluate workstation‑level processes and implement improvements in tooling, fixtures, gauges, presses, and material‑handling systems.

Quality & Compliance

  • Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit PPAP documentation and validation plans.
  • Ensure processes meet Quality Management System requirements (IATF 16949, ISO 14001)

Tooling, Equipment & Layout

  • Design or improve tooling, fixtures, gauges, and workstation layouts.
  • Review customer BOMs and develop internal manufacturing BOMs.
  • Support capital planning, equipment justification, and layout proposals.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Support new product launches and process changes.
  • Partner with Program Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Maintenance.
  • Translate customer specifications into efficient manufacturing methods.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Maintain strong communication, follow‑through, and accountability.
  • Direct and coordinate engineering activities within the assigned value stream.
  • Participate in hiring, training, performance evaluations, and employee development.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • 5+ years applying Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • 5–10 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Strong background in complex mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Strong analytical and statistical problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, and process validation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, or Physical Science.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, data analysis, and engineering documentation tools.
  • Hands‑on experience with mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, and machine operation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Tooling design experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Capital equipment planning or budgeting experience.
  • Experience presenting engineering solutions to customers or leadership.
  • Experience with drivetrain components or internal combustion systems.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Requires strong visual acuity, depth perception, and color vision.
  • Regular standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequent shop‑floor presence around mechanical equipment and moderate noise.
