Manufacturing Engineer - Star Swiss


Position Purpose:
The focus of the Manufacturing Engineer (ME) is the definition of the manufacturing methods and improvement of existing manufacturing processes and the assimilation of new technologies into current processes. The ME will maintain an environment of continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility.


Responsibilities/Duties/Functions:
  • Develop new or improved manufacturing methods using existing or new equipment.
  • Investigate, recommend, and justify new technologies, manufacturing methods, and equipment to meet competitive business needs and improve efficiencies.
  • Confer with vendors and internal resources to arrange for purchase and installation of equipment, materials, etc.
  • Analyze and design layout of equipment and workspace ensuring maximum efficiency.
  • Develop programs for new and existing parts for Star Swiss-turn lathes.
  • Design custom tooling when required.
  • Troubleshoot and correct CNC system processes.
  • Investigate options for new or improved tooling or tooling systems
  • Document processes and train operators and other personnel.
  • Create and revise documents such as Work Instructions, Training Guides, and Preventative Maintenance.
  • Assist in developing and conducting protocols including IQ, OQ, and PQ activities as required
  • Analyze process outputs using statistical methods to ensure stability
  • Perform other duties as required/assigned


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • Medical device methods manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 2 years machining experience, preferably programming CNC
  • Star Swiss experience
  • Solid Works proficiency


Core Competencies:
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • CAD proficiency
  • Read, analyze and interpret complex manufacturing documents
  • Strong manufacturing background (CNC/Metalcutting)
