Description
Essential Duties
Engineer custom tooling and fixturing solutions to improve machining performance and process reliability.
Develop workholding systems for complex machined components while considering safety, ergonomics, quality, and production efficiency.
Oversee tooling projects from initial concept through manufacturing, validation, implementation, and ongoing support.
Create and maintain tooling models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software.
Work directly with suppliers to quote, manufacture, modify, and validate tooling and fixtures.
Partner with manufacturing and production personnel to troubleshoot machining issues and implement long-term process improvements.
Support new product launches by ensuring tooling is available, validated, and capable of meeting production demands.

Establish preventative maintenance plans and replacement strategies to maximize tooling life while minimizing production downtime.
Assist quality teams with inspection fixture development, measurement strategies, and validation activities.
Maintain engineering records including tooling specifications, bills of material, maintenance documentation, and revision history.
Participate in process validation, capability studies, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or another related engineering discipline.
At least five years of engineering experience supporting machining or manufacturing operations.
Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, including milling and turning applications.
Proven experience designing tooling, fixtures, and workholding systems for precision-machined components.
Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
Experience utilizing CAD software to design manufacturing tooling; NX experience is beneficial but not required.
Familiarity with hydraulic and manual clamping systems, dimensional inspection, and CMM fixturing.
Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and solve manufacturing challenges in a production environment.
Experience working with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, production, quality, and supplier teams.
