Job Details

Working under general supervision, this role is responsible for developing and refining manufacturing processes, resolving production issues, and designing custom equipment, tooling, and fixtures. The position involves evaluating and defining requirements for machinery, materials, and production methods, including gathering data to support make-versus-buy decisions.

The engineer will create and implement efficient, cost-conscious manufacturing processes that meet product specifications and quality expectations. This role also identifies opportunities for process improvements and helps optimize production layouts to enhance workflow and efficiency.

The position oversees assigned projects from initial concept through final execution, including establishing timelines, coordinating tasks, and ensuring completion within budget and schedule constraints. Regular updates are provided to management, along with contingency plans when project scope or timing changes.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and guide project-related activities from start to finish
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure alignment with project goals
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules
Create concepts, designs, and solutions for project requirements
Test and validate designs, identifying and resolving issues as needed
Define process parameters and prepare operational guidelines
Design production layouts and assess their impact on facility operations
Analyze process flow and evaluate effects on material handling systems
Support quoting activities by providing relevant technical data
Operate manufacturing equipment related to assigned projects, as required
Conduct process and product analysis (e.g., time studies, workflow mapping) to drive cost reduction and efficiency improvements
Assist in developing FMEAs to identify and mitigate potential risks
Lead and monitor continuous improvement initiatives within the plant
Maintain packaging documentation and drive packaging optimization efforts

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on training
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)

Familiarity with standard office equipment

  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of basic statistical concepts and geometric principles
  • Knowledge of tooling design and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T specifications
  • Familiarity with APQP methodologies
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and tools
