Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will develop, optimize, and support manufacturing processes in a precision machinery and assembly environment. This role focuses on new product introduction, continuous improvement, and hands-on support of production operations, ensuring that products are manufacturable, repeatable, and cost-effective while maintaining high quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for precision machinery and assembly operations.
  • Support new product introduction by ensuring designs are manufacturable, repeatable, and cost-effective.
  • Analyze production data to identify process variation, yield loss, and opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across the production floor.
  • Support the implementation and validation of new equipment, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Design custom fixtures using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD tools.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain standard work, routings, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to address manufacturing challenges and improve processes.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and provide technical input to support operational decisions.
  • Play a key role in specifying, costing, preparing bills of materials, and integrating new manufacturing equipment, such as a Vertical Lift Module (VLM), into internal processes.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Hands-on experience working on the production floor in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining, precision assembly, and core manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD design software.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining and assembly operations.
  • Ability to analyze production data to identify process variation and yield issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a structured approach to root-cause analysis.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with LabVIEW for data acquisition or test automation.
  • Background in an industry-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Mixed Background in both electrical/electronic systems and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with robotics, aerospace, and electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with precision machinery and assembly operations.
  • Exposure to CAD-driven fixture and tooling design.
  • Interest in learning and working with state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, including automated inventory and material handling systems.

Work Environment

This role splits time between the production floor (approximately 70%) and a desk environment (approximately 30%). The Manufacturing Engineer will participate in daily production meetings and work closely with operators, technicians, and other engineers to investigate issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The environment includes precision machinery, CNC equipment, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies, with opportunities to support integration of new systems such as a Vertical Lift Module (VLM) for internal inventory management. The culture emphasizes high-quality, precision-engineered products, collaboration, and ongoing learning, offering early-career professionals the chance to gain experience and receive training on state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
