PositionManufacturing EngineerPosition OverviewThe primary responsibility is to support Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Procurement and Sales by researching manufacturing methodology options regarding the feasibility of manufacturing and assembling valve components. This includes reviewing drawings, BOMs, materials of construction, machining tools and methods, and coating and welding options to provide detailed manufacturing routing instructions in a timely manner.Job ResponsibilitiesResearch manufacturing methods to include machining, coatings, welding and assembly for valves and valve components.Coordinate activities with the Process Improvement Team to drive continuous improvement within ValvTechnologies and Spartak.Work closely with Supply Chain and Quality to assist in identifying qualified machining vendors by visiting suppliers to ensure that they meet company standards.Support Operations by ensuring all Project Kickoff meetings involve Manufacturing Engineering and by identifying and resolving manufacturing issues.Assist Project Management to ensure all sales orders meet company standards and resolve manufacturing‑related issues in a timely manner to drive customer on‑time delivery.Collaborate with Product Engineering and Designers to confirm that all product and component designs can be manufactured and discuss improvement ideas.Collaborate with Product Engineering and Production to resolve NCRs.Work across all departments to drive efficiency and quality improvements.Review current manufacturing methods and recommend methodology, process and operational improvements, and modifications of existing manufacturing methodology production standards to achieve optimal output and quality.Develop and provide detailed manufacturing routes that clearly define manufacturing steps, including selection of proper machine tools, first setup point, manufacturing steps, critical dimensions, quality hold points, inspection points, and assembly and test instructions.Provide specialty routes on demand to support rework requirements driven primarily by machine shop and vendor demands and identified quality issues and NCRs.Review all necessary customer information and specifications, quotes, drawings, designs, schematics and BOMs to ensure compliance with all sales, QA and customer requirements.Investigate the practicality of manufacturing required valve components using available inventory and provide specialty one‑time manufacturing routes as demand permits.Provide single‑use rework drawings as required.Design and develop tooling and manufacturing methods to improve setup and production times.Develop improved bill of materials and routing methods such as template and/or modular bills and routes to drive quality improvements of these tasks.Create and review quote, sales, production and shop drawings and files.Support Sales and Engineering efforts by performing material application and specification research to calculate, verify and determine feasibility and viability of customer requests and specifications.Maintain and update, as needed, all ISO, ASME, API and other QA requirements.Compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on manufacturing activities.May perform any other work‑related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by immediate supervisor.Skills and AbilitiesExperience in a volume manufacturing MRP/ERP environment.Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality program with 1050CFR Appendix B experience desired.Understanding of ISO, ASME, ASTM, API, PED, AWS and pressure vessel compliance regulations, codes and standards, as well as other international codes/standards.Ability to accurately read, review and interpret manufacturing and design drawings and schematics.Working knowledge of SolidWorks or other 3‑D design/drafting and manufacturing software.Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.Understanding of manufacturing processes and workflow.Understanding of material applications for a variety of industrial/service applications.Excellent math, algebra and geometry skills and experience in manufacturing calculations.Understanding of manufacturing material/product application with a goal of improving quality, production processes and efficiency.Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and requests for information and prioritize to ensure timely and accurate completion of all tasks.Proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically MS Excel, and experience with ERP/MRP systems.Ability to work in a team‑oriented environment that is fast‑paced and demanding.Must be self‑directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills.Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.Works well meeting multiple deadlines with the ability to deliver on time.Excellent written, oral and verbal communication skills.Core QualificationsB.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a technical degree or equivalent.Minimum four years of manufacturing experience with engineering products and/or pipeline related experience.Experience with HVOF and lapping processes.#J-18808-Ljbffr
