Overview:
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer 1 will support the shop floor with the manufacturing process. They will help deliver business results while collaborating with the technicians and leadership. They will create standard instructions and processes to meet top quality levels and standard work instructions and work routines.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
- Attends required project kickoff meeting(s), as required by program management for all projects assigned
- Responsible for ordering, maintaining, and replenishing tooling, fixturing, and gauging
- Responsible for developing and revising product work instructions (Manufacturing and Assembly Process Sheets)
- Responsible for developing and editing routing sheet and process (production traveler)
- Determine safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method possible
- Pursue continuous improvement efforts across the shop to improve quality and reduce lead times and cost
- Plan and document process activities related to new product and process integration
- Explain technical information to the manufacturing team
- Execute manufacturing related quality and lean activities
- Assist supervisors and production support in resolving manufacturing problems to drive root cause and corrective action
- Process non-conformance reports while keeping all affected departments informed
- Suggest Engineering Change Order Requests to correct errant engineering data or improve the overall manufacturability of the product
- Document and record quality records related to statistical control
- Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with one or more years related experience and/or training preferably in an aerospace environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college preferred
- Experience in aerospace environment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints for writing manufacturing procedures for shop use
- Background and knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques
- LEAN Manufacturing, LEAN Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience is preferred
- Internal Auditor experience preferred
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels

- Previous experience in Production Control preferred

Computer Skills

- Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to learn and utilize the company’s ERP and MRP systems
- Knowledge of CAD software preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Knowledge of ISO / Quality procedures
- Direct experience with machining or assembly processes with an aptitude to learn from experience preferred
