Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on designing and improving manufacturing processes for new and existing products in a clean, highly automated automotive environment. You will develop efficient production methods, enhance productivity and profitability, and implement in-plant technologies such as automated assembly and inspection. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve plant targets and key performance indicators while consistently driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop manufacturing processes for new products, proposing efficient and practical ideas that support production goals.
  • Study line key performance indicators (KPIs) for new models, set targets, and prepare production lines to meet those targets.
  • Resolve technical issues on the production line to ensure stable operations and achievement of KPI goals.
  • Improve profitability by driving productivity improvements, including labor savings, defect reduction, and reduction of equipment breakdowns.
  • Analyze and improve existing production lines to optimize productivity based on current and projected volume trends.
  • Establish in-plant technologies such as automated assembly and inspection and deploy these solutions to other production lines as appropriate.
  • Work with a team using the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle to achieve plant targets and KPIs.
  • Define, schedule, implement, monitor, and standardize process improvements across the manufacturing lines.
  • Perform cost estimates for improvement ideas, including equipment, tooling, packaging, and installation costs under supervision.
  • Develop and update work instructions and related documentation to support standardized processes and best practices.
  • Communicate and present improvement plans and project results clearly and confidently to senior-level executives.
  • Collaborate with tooling, design, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure alignment between process capabilities and product requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities, proposing solutions, and following through on implementation.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on process design and optimization.
  • Strong background in process improvement within a production or automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with tooling, equipment, and manufacturing line setup.
  • Ability to create, interpret, and maintain work instructions and process documentation.
  • Proven capability to drive continuous improvement initiatives using structured methodologies such as PDCA.
  • Strong analytical skills to study line KPIs, volume trends, and productivity data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to perform cost estimates for equipment, tooling, packaging, and installation related to improvement projects.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, including the ability to present improvement plans to senior-level executives.
  • Detail-oriented approach, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and thoroughly.
  • Demonstrated ability to introduce new ideas and apply original thinking to solve problems and improve processes.

  • Experience working in a highly automated manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with automated assembly and inspection technologies and their deployment across multiple lines.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled, and highly automated automotive manufacturing facility. You will work closely with production, engineering, and leadership teams on the shop floor and in office settings, interacting frequently with automated assembly and inspection systems.
