We are seeking a detail-oriented and process-driven Manufacturing Engineer to join our facility. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing our production processes, enhancing line efficiency, and maintaining rigorous adherence to our SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards. The ideal candidate understands the intersection of automated manufacturing systems and the strict requirements of a food-grade production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization & Efficiency:
Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve throughput, reduce waste, and increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing methodologies.
Food Safety & Quality Compliance (SQF):
Ensure all engineering projects, line modifications, and equipment installations comply with SQF Code requirements and HACCP plans.
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure "food-safe" design principles are applied to all new equipment installations and facility modifications.
Maintain engineering documentation required for SQF audits and regulatory compliance.
Technical Support:
Provide day-to-day technical support for production lines, troubleshooting mechanical and automated system issues.
Manage capital projects from conception through installation and validation.
Oversee the integration of automation and PLC systems to improve product consistency.
Safety & Sanitation:
Ensure all equipment designs meet sanitary design standards (e.g., washdown capabilities, lack of allergen traps).
Work closely with the maintenance team to develop preventative maintenance schedules that align with production needs and food safety protocols.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering (or a related field).
Experience:
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Demonstrated experience in a food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Compliance Knowledge: Proven experience working within an SQF, BRC, or ISO 22000 environment. Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP is essential.
Technical Skills:
Experience with automated lines, PLC troubleshooting, and robotics.
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or SolidWorks).
Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and documentation.
Soft Skills: Analytical thinking, strong communication skills (cross-functional leadership), and an uncompromising commitment to safety and quality.
