Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve CNC machining operations for a medical device manufacturer through process optimization, equipment reliability, tooling improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will partner with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance across CNC manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

CNC Equipment & Process Engineering

  • Develop, implement, and optimize CNC machining processes for mills, lathes, multi-axis machining centers, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and improve CNC equipment performance to maximize machine utilization and throughput.
  • Establish machining parameters, tooling selections, fixture designs, and process documentation.
  • Lead equipment commissioning, validation, and startup activities for new CNC machinery and automation systems.
  • Identify and resolve machining issues related to cycle times, tool wear, quality defects, and equipment downtime.
  • Support predictive and preventive maintenance initiatives to improve machine reliability.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze production metrics and implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Conduct process capability studies and root cause analyses to address recurring manufacturing issues.
  • Lead capital improvement projects involving CNC equipment upgrades, automation, robotics, and facility improvements.
  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives through process improvements, tooling optimization, and equipment enhancements.

Production Support

  • Provide daily technical support to CNC operators, machinists, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.
  • Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, setup sheets, control plans, and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production schedules and customer requirements.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure CNC processes comply with quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with Quality teams to resolve non-conformances and improve process capability.
  • Support PFMEA, control plans, process validations, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Project Management

  • Manage equipment installation, process improvement, and manufacturing technology projects.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors, tooling suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Track project timelines, budgets, and performance objectives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor"s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a CNC machining environment.
  • Experience with CNC mills, lathes, machining centers, and associated tooling systems.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, machining processes, and metal fabrication techniques.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with CNC programming (G-code, CAM software, Mastercam, Fusion 360, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Project management experience involving capital equipment and manufacturing process improvements.

Work Environment

  • Combination of manufacturing floor and office environment.
  • Frequent interaction with CNC operators, maintenance technicians, quality personnel, and production leadership.
  • Occasional travel to supplier facilities, customer locations, or manufacturing sites may be required.

This is a Permanent position based out of Collegeville, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
